About Us

Over 40 years of caring for vulnerable children in the heart of Ghana's Central Region.

Our Story

From Six Children to a Community

Countryside Children's Welfare Home was founded in 1981, beginning with just six children in Winneba. Two years later, in 1983, the home relocated to Bawjiase in the Central Region โ€” the community it has called home ever since.

What started as a small shelter grew steadily over the decades. By the early 2000s, the home was caring for over 70 children, most of them under the age of ten, providing meals, schooling, and a stable family environment.

Today, after a period of scrutiny and reform, the home continues its mission with renewed accountability structures, transparent governance, and a deep commitment to the children entrusted to its care.
